A longtime Motorola scientist is reported to have presented on wireless and human health safety to Apple and Microsoft.
The committee of the IEEE that issues”safety limits” for 5G, cell towers and cell phones, the Inotes that their Chair
Yes, a Motorola scientist has long chaired the IEEE committee that sets recommended standards for allowable exposures to cell phone and cell tower radiation. The USA has heavily relied on these limits for their wireless limits set in 1996. in fact, the US FCC states their limits are based on ANSI/IEEE C95.1-1992 guidelines and the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP) 1986 Report. CK Chou has long been a leading member of both NCRP and the IEEE.
The minutes from a January 2019 meeting of IEEE ICEMS has a section “TC95 Chairman’s Report” by CK Chou which states “November 18, 2018 gave a talk on “RF Safety Issues and New IEEE C95.1 standard” at the Apple Headquarter in Cupertino, California. About 15 attended the seminar.” Apple’s corporate headquarters is located in Cupertino.
The minutes also stated, “September 11, 2018: IEEE Broadcast Technology Society, Distinguished Lecture “Safety Issues of Radiofrequency Exposure” at Microsoft Headquarter in Redmond, Washington. About 50 attended the meeting.” Microsoft’s corporate headquarters is located in Redmond, Washington.
We do not know who attended the meeting or what was presented.
Dr. Chung-Kwang (C-K.) Chou is well known as longtime Chief EME Scientist with Motorola and Motorola Solutions. He retired from Motorola Solutions at the end of 2013, and is currently an Independent Consultant on EMF safety issues.
Dr. Chung-Kwang (C-K.) Chou joined Motorola in 1998, and became the Director of the Corporate EME Research Laboratory. He was the Chief EME Scientist with Motorola and Motorola Solutions from 2001 to 2013, where he was responsible for radio frequency (RF) product safety. He retired from Motorola Solutions at the end of 2013, and is currently an Independent Consultant on EMF safety issues.
When he left academia to work at Motorola he penned a statement about how he was in industry AND in the groups setting safety limits. The statement is called “From Academia To Industry by C.K. Chou” and concludes:
“Academia and industry should, can, and do work in cooperation over issues regarding the safety of radio frequency exposures, not in competition and definitely not in conflict. At Motorola’s Florida Research Laboratory, our mission is to conduct research and testing to ensure that Motorola products emitting electromagnetic energy are safe for employees and customers. Safety is our business. We have the same goal and we will continue to contribute to the field based on solid science. ”
He is the Chairman of Technical Committee 95 of the IEEE International Committee on Electromagnetic Safety, responsible for exposure standards from 0 to 300 GHz (2006- ). Dr. Chou has authored over 200 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters and received the highest honor d’Arsonval Medal from the Bioelectromagnetics Society in 2006.
We do not have information on what was presented to Apple or Microsoft but here is a presentation by CK Chou from earlier in 2018 to IEEE San Francisco in January 2018. In the presentation he presents how there is “bad science,” how the WHO created factsheets about electromagnetic hypersensitivity, and how the problems of cell phones are not from the radiation but car accidents etc…
