Surveys suggest that children in the United States have their own mobile phones on average at the age of 10. Most parents are unaware, however, that digital screens not only affect the brain and eyes, but also shrink learning capacity, attention span, social skills, balanced mood, posture, and sleep.
In her first interview since writing her new book “Screen Children: How Digital Screens Are Impacting Our Kids and How To Help Them,” Geneva, Switzerland-based Meltem Küskü will talk to EHT’s Theodora Scarato about her experience educating parents on the dangers of radiofrequency radiation (RFR) and the physical, mental, psychological, and social impacts of digital technology.
Küskü’s book, which is available on Amazon, is based on scientific research but is written in conversational language that makes it easy to read and understand. Renowned addiction expert Dr. Gabor Maté calls “Screen Children” “a clearly-written, science-based warning on the impacts of digital technology and a helpful primer on how to avoid and mitigate its harms.”
Ms. Küskü adds that it makes a great baby shower gift for parents to gain awareness before they hand over the screens to babysit their children.

About Meltem Küskü
Born in Istanbul in 1972 as the first child of a teacher mother and an engineer father, Meltem Küskü started her university education as a mechanical engineer at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, before moving to the Department of Business Administration. She started working as a consumer and market researcher in the Istanbul office of Procter & Gamble after graduation.
In 2000, she moved to Germany and later to Switzerland. During her 24-year research career, she has spoken with consumers around the world; conducted hundreds of research studies; given countless presentations and training sessions; and led million-dollar research budgets and teams of dozens of people.
Küskü left P&G in June 2019 and currently lives in Geneva with her husband and two children. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in psychological counseling, a dream she has dreamt for many years. In January, she released the book “Screen Children: How Digital Screens Are Impacting Our Kids and How To Help Them.”
