The Government of Canada has banned the distribution of the Alcatel U 50 mobile phone for exceeding its regulatory air emission thresholds (SAR). This is confirmed on the MobileSyrup website , a spokesperson for the government agency Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) that controls the marketing of radio devices in Canada.
After the withdrawal in France of nearly 100,000 Hapi 30 mobile phones (MOBIWIRE) in April 2018 marketed by the Orange operator and the NEFFOS X1 TP902 imported by TP-Link at the end of May 2018, this is the first recall at three Canadian telephone operators, Bell, Telus and Freedom Mobile.
The Alcatel U 50 is not known to be marketed in France, it is not one of the 31 mobile phones tested by the National Frequency Agency. But to reiterate, ANFR asked updating three telephones including one of the Alc atel PIXI 4-6 ”.

The Canadian regulations modeled on the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) standards, introduced in 1998, are more protective than European standards derived from the recommendations of the International Commission on the Protection of Ionizing Radiation (ICNIRP). Indeed, the SAR thresholds “head” and “trunk” are 1.6 W / kg in the US for 2 W / kg in Europe. In addition, testing on 1gr of tissue instead of 10gr decreases by 2 to 3 times the level of exposure for the user.
As Dr. Arazi, president of Alert PhoneGate, announced in April 2018 at the microphone of journalist Jean-Jacques Bourdin , hundreds of millions of mobile phones will have to be removed from the global market and add to the opportunity for this first withdrawal in Canada: “We are delighted to see that our international action with our partners ( Environmental Health Trust ) is paying off across the Atlantic and that the safety and health of users is becoming a priority for government authorities. ”
