In a statement dated July 11, 2025, the French national frequency agency (ANFR) has authorized the resale of the Ulefone Note 16 PRO smartphone, following a software update supposedly designed to lower its SAR levels. We at Alerte Phonegate firmly condemn this regulatory decision, as it offers no real guarantee of safety or health protection for users.

Critical Failures by ANFR and CETECOM Advanced

Active Proximity Sensors

Our investigation on the manufacturer’s website confirms that the Ulefone Note 16 PRO is equipped with active proximity sensors. These components can interfere during SAR measurement procedures at the CETECOM Advanced laboratory, as has been documented repeatedly in the Phonegate scandal.

Test Report Confirms Lack of Sensor Deactivation

Contrary to the standards now required in France since 2022, the company TESSKONI TECH did not provide ANFR with the necessary codes to deactivate the device’s embedded software during testing. This omission—clearly recorded by the absence of checked boxes in the CETECOM Advanced approval report—prevents any credible verification of users’ real-world exposure levels.

“This is a serious breach and a betrayal of consumer trust”

Dr. Marc Arazi, author of the book Phonegate (Massot éditions), strongly denounces this decision:

“ANFR has approved the return to market of a smartphone whose SAR remains potentially dangerous, without even properly investigating possible software manipulations of its emissions. This is a serious breach and a betrayal of consumer trust. We demand that the withdrawal of this model be upheld and an end to these privileges for manufacturers who refuse full transparency.”
