U.S. HHS IS SEEKING PUBLIC INPUT ON EMF, RF & WIRELESS RADIATION
RF/EMF exposure is part of everyday life. It comes from sources including mobile phones, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, wireless devices, mobile phone masts and other wireless technologies, as well as other sources of electromagnetic fields.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is now asking the public for information about RF/EMF exposure and human health, including what is known about potential health effects and whether further research is needed.
The Request for Information (RFI) is scheduled to be published in the Federal Register on September 21, 2026, with comments due 30 days after publication.
What HHS is seeking information on
HHS says responses will help to:
Identify and assess the current state of the scientific evidence on RF/EMF exposures and health outcomes
Compare existing U.S. and international safety standards and regulatory approaches
Identify research gaps and priorities for future study
Inform practical, evidence-based recommendations for policymakers, public health stakeholders, families, schools and communities.
YOUR EXPERIENCE MATTERS
HHS is inviting input from members of the public, individuals, families and caregivers, as well as researchers, clinicians, public health professionals, educators, advocacy groups and others with relevant knowledge or experience.
The RFI provides an opportunity to submit research, evidence, documented experiences, observations and other relevant information concerning RF/EMF exposure and health.
HHS is particularly interested in information that helps distinguish established evidence from emerging findings and areas of uncertainty.
