Act Now – Consultation Closes 26th September 2025
The EM Radiation Research Trust (RRT) has submitted its formal response to the Castle Point Plan (Regulation 19) Consultation – Policy Infra6: Communications Infrastructure. Our submission calls for robust, precautionary planning policies to protect public health, particularly for children, the elderly, electrosensitive individuals, people with medical implants, and cancer survivors.
We have urged Castle Point Council to:
- Adopt minimum setbacks of 500 m from homes and 1,000 m from schools and sensitive sites.
- Prioritise fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) broadband over wireless deployment.
- Require independent expert review instead of relying on operator self-certification.
- Protect vulnerable populations and consider non-thermal, cumulative, and pulsed RF exposures.
- Review or decommission existing masts with invalid ICNIRP certificates.
- Integrate the latest 2025 WHO/IARC evidence confirming RF radiation as a carcinogen.
Why this matters:
If one council adopts these recommendations, it could set a precedent that other councils may follow. Together, we can push for truly health-protective planning across the UK. We encourage all Castle Point residents, charities, and campaign groups to submit their responses to the Council’s consultation. If you live outside the area, you can still support this effort by submitting information, sharing evidence, and raising awareness to strengthen the case for precautionary, science, and evidence-based decision making.
