A new therapeutic breakthrough from Wayne State University reveals a major ambivalence: when used in a controlled manner, the waves can help treat some tumors; but uncontrolled exposure, especially via mobile phones and wireless devices, could increase the risk of glioblastomas.
A scientific breakthrough for the treatment of glioblastoma
Thus, this American study published on October 13, 2025 in the scientific journal Oncotarget shows that radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic fields, modulated at low intensity and at specific frequencies, can slow the progression of glioblastoma, a very aggressive brain tumor.
Study published in Oncotarget
This treatment (TheraBionic device), validated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for certain advanced liver cancers, proves that RF waves have biological (non-thermal) effects beyond the simple heating of tissues, an effect only taken into account in the current regulations governing mobile telephony.

Alarming rise in glioblastomas
Strengthening independent research is essential, especially since the latest figures from Santé Publique France show a worrying increase both in the general population (4-fold increase in 30 years) and even more worrying among young people (230% in 20 years among 15-39 year olds).
Phonegate scandal: global alert
Phonegate Alert revealed that the majority of mobile phones exceed exposure standards due to totally inadequate regulations but also due to the use by manufacturers of embedded software that distorts exposure levels (Specific Absorption Rate/SAR) during controls.
Users are thus exposed to SAR levels much higher than the official thresholds, to biological effects that are still poorly evaluated, in particular via mechanisms involving calcium channels and cell proliferation.
Standards to be reviewed
The regulations are based exclusively on the thermal effect (heating), without taking into account:
- Modulation/pulsation of signals
- Low-intensity effects
This incomplete approach does not adequately protect, especially young people. Industrialists, well informed of this situation, favor their profit to the detriment of public health.
The voice of Phonegate Alert
Dr. Marc Arazi, President of Phonegate Alert:
“We are facing a global scandal: mobile phones and connected devices emit far beyond the standards set by manufacturers, endangering the health of users. These waves can cure, but also promote cancers such as glioblastoma when they are poorly controlled. It is urgent to integrate this double reality and to apply the precautionary principle as soon as possible.”
